I love the sketch that Taylor came up with this week.  The card came together really quick and I even like it!  This Ballerina stamp is one of my favorites, perfect for a little girl birthday card.
I was thoughtful & sent my dad and husband to see a movie.  I bet they don't know I really wanted time to myself to create!

Kristina's Color Challenge #43

  
Here is my quick card for Kristina's color inspiration this week. Okay, it was supposed to be quick but I ended up pulling apart my last card and added one layer and changed the color of the scallop... just a little better now.  I LOVE the DeNami turtle, perfect birthday card for a little boy.

The "didn't make the cut" Card

Well, I made the top 24 for the Spellbinders Design Team, but I didn't make it to the top 14.  I am very disappointed, but I won't let it get me down for long.  I do plan on trying again in 2010 if they have a team again - and you all know how fast a year goes by... it'll be here before you know it. SO, truly a huge congratulations to the people that did make it.  I am excited to see what others made - the only requirement was to use a heart and a butterfly die - I am sure there was quite a diverse collection of cards/scrapbook pages sent it.

I knew I wanted to focus on the butterflies and have the heart be an accent. I thought the sending you love sentiment went perfect with the hearts and butterflies.  I LOVE this background design stamp from the Papertrey Ink Sympathy set.  It is stamped in black and embossed with clear powder.  I used my copics to add some color.  The butterflies were cut with the dies, 10 butterflies total on this little card, lots of dimension.  I layered the hearts in middle and balanced it all out with the sentiment.  Lavender hero arts bling add glitz, along with the glittered butterflies.

February Papertrey Blog Hop "Springy"

 

This is my 1st time participating in the Papertrey Blog Hop.  This is a monthly event that you can participate in, so I plan on trying to do it monthly.  You can get the details here.   This month the theme is to make something "springy".  I wanted to use my new butterfly dies from Spellbinders, and the two new colors from PT this month - New Leaf and Mellon Berry.  I tried to throw some different colors in there, like the splash of summer sunrise & yellow ribbon.  Sometimes I try to make my cards "too matchy" and it just blends all together.  I think this is a great Springy card that is perfect for a "just because" kind of day.  Thanks for looking!

AND today is the day the top 24 Spellbinders Team will be narrowed down to 8. I am in the top 24, but with no phone call I am thinking I didn't make it.

CPS 104 Sketch

 

This is my 1st try at a Card Positioning System Sketch.  I can't find my corner rounder so I just free handed it -and its dark and cloudy today, so my picture is sorta dark, otherwise I like my simple card.  I used the PT Out on a Limb Set and a few flowers from the PT Honey Bees Set. SU Close to cocoa ink for the branch & saying. PT Aqua Mist & Spring Moss ink and spring moss satin ribbon. Everyday Blessings patterned paper from PT. Kraft card base is DeNami Kraft Paper.

I taught my 1st DeNami class this season at Stampers Corner in Elk Grove.  It was nice to see some
familiar faces and meet new friends too!  A special hello to Cheryl that reads my blog.  She has never left a comment, so I never knew she was reading. SO if you are reading my blog and love something- leave me a comment. Feel free to comment or email if you have a DeNami stamp laying around that you want to see a sample made with.  I have a good collection, and would love to make a sample up for you!!  I have to share this sweet little sign my 6 year old son made for me.  It was laying on my pillow when I came home - How sweet!

Taylored Expressions Cupcake Challenge #56

I love Fridays!  I look forward to Taylor's challenge every week. I think this was an easier one for me, this card came together in about 20 minutes this afternoon.  I had this new designer paper from Stampin Up, Raspberry Tart so that is where I started.  I found this oldie but goodie daisy trio DeNami stamp that I have had for about 10 years or so.  I ran out of ribbon so I did this half bow, I think I have seen Mish  make a bow like this on her cards before.   
No cupcakes on the card, so I included a photo of my sweet kids from after school.  I took them to Retro Bakery here in Vegas and they each picked out a cupcake - peanut butter for Saryn and Cookies and Cream for Kasen.  Mine is the one in the middle, chocolate fountain... so rich and yummy!

My new display

 

I love to display my cards after I make them... but I never had a good place to put them.  I re-purposed an old cork board into this. I bought the material at Walmart for $2.00, and the cushion batting for $5.  The grosgrain green SU ribbon was in my stash.  So, for $7.00 and about 45 minutes of my time - I have a new place to display my cards and some photos too.  Green is my favorite color, I was excited to find this color, and cheap too!
Basic Directions:
Cut batting & material slightly bigger than your surface.  I hot glued the batting down slightly, then wrapped the material tightly around the board and hot glued one side at a time.  Trim off excess material.  I eyeballed and measured a few spots to start the ribbon off. I started corner to corner and then worked my way down.  Hot glued the ribbon to the back of the board.  I tried finding push pins or tacks, but nothing was long enough to go through the padding.  I used simple silver stick pins from my sewing area.  Pushed in at an angle wored perfectly.  Just goes to show you can re-use something in your home and make it NEW! 

Kristina's Color Challenge #42

Kristina's Color Challenge #42.  For some reason these colors just scream "Fall Theme" to me.  I didn't want to make a fall card today, so I tried for the spring theme with fall colors. I chose the DeNami birdhouse trio stamp for my image.  I stamped it with Palette Noir Black ink and colored in with my copic markers.  I layered a bunch of Stampin Up patterned paper from my "stash".  It needed something and I decided on the added touch of ribbon.  Stampin Up Mustard Grosgrain and the green I picked up somewhere in my travels.  I normally make a card with a "purpose" in mind, but this one is really just for the color challenge.  I think it would work for a congratulations on your new home, or just a thinking of you.  I am excited to see what other people come up with - NON FALL types I think will be the best.

Dawn's Favorites Color Challenge

I chose Dawn's "just because" card from day #5.   Lemon Tart, Aqua Mist, Dark Chocolate & White are the colors she used.  Her card is so much more striking than mine, but hey I tried.  I love her new damask stamps, so I tried to recreated her look using this DeNami stamp.  I stamped it in Dark Chocolate PT Ink.  It wasn't bold enough so I used my quickie glue pen and gorgeous new bronze glitter.   The pretty satin ribbon from PT adds the final touch.  Quick, simple, and elegant - perfect for any occasion!

Taylored Expressions Cupcake Challenge #55

                                        I chose a spring set "blooming with love" by stampin up for my card today.  It is COLD here in Vegas.... there was frost on car windows this morning when I went to the gym at 8. Brrrr.  I used Petal Patch 12x12 Paper by Stampin Up for the background.  Super quick card, I feel like it is missing something, but everything I tried adding just didn't work.  Colored in with my copics.  This is my 100th Blog Post!
